Inbound Calls Directly to your Xten/X-lite/eyebeam without any VoIP service provider
- Does your registered provider not allow inbound SIP URI calls?
- Do you want to cut down on latency/echo, by bypassing your VoIP provider on inbound VoIP calls?
- Do you simply like the idea of allowing calls directly into your softphone?
Let’s take voipcheap as an example. What you need do is the following.
1. Register your voipcheap on X-lite.
- username: voipcheap username
- password: voipcheap password
- authorization user name: voipcheap username
- Domain: voipcheap.com
Now, if you click ok, your X-lite should be able to register with the server.
2. For eyebeam 1.1, change Sip Listen Port to 5060. For X-lite 3.0, change “port used on local computer” to 5060-5061 (I cannot just put in 5060).
3. Put in Stun server as “stun.voxalot.com.au:3478″.
4. In your router’s configuration, forward UDP port 5060 to your computer’s local IP address.
5. Register an ipkall number, do the setting as follows.
- username: voipcheap username
- sip proxy: your WAN ip address
Now, you have finished all setting. After 1 hour, the number will take effect.
6. user no-ip(optional)
If you often change your WAN ip or your WAN ip is changing very often because it’s dynamic ip(usually, even if it’s dynamic, the ip will be stable which is my case), you could register on no-ip.com and get a dynamic DNS for your WAN ip. Put the DNS in your ipkall setting as “sip proxy”. Then you need run the client software from no-ip in your computer, which I don’t like.
Enjoy totally free US number with your softphone!
